Do it Rockapella!

Caleb and I rented "Where in the World is Osama bin Laden" yesterday. So of course all night and morning we were singing "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" Which took us to the internet to figure out the real lyrics (we were butchering it terribly). And that took us to Youtube, where we were able to watch 3 full episodes! I probably haven't seen it in 13+ years, but I was shocked at all I remembered: The Chief Lynne Thigpen, The Loot, the Warrant and the Crook, pulling the chain to put the bad guy behind bars... What a classic show! PBS rocks.

Catalina Pics, Magic Pics, Birthday Pics

This weekend we went to Catalina with my mom. We saw a few dolphins on the way over there.
We kayaked
CB jumping off Frog Rock...
(sorry turn head to the left... I wasn't thinking. Can you believe I went to film school!? haha)

Monday I only worked a half day and we met up with Tawny and the boys at Shakey's to have some pizza and cake.
Me and Dave and my Red Velvet Birthday Cake
(thanks mom it was delicious!)

2 Brothers just hanging out...

Then Monday night, CB, Mom, Mick, Schae and I went to the Magic Castle for a magic birthday. I wore a dress that Mom bought me from downtown for $20! I called it my "high fashion dress" because the sleeves are all poofy and the neckline has this really nice pleating detail. I had to remove the 80's tstrap thing in the back, but all in all- I really liked this dress. Well... we went to Mick and Schae's to pick them up and as I'm sitting in the back seat, I pull my dress down to cover my legs more... and RIPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP! Yep... split the fabric up past my bum. Luckily, still being in their driveway, I ran in (covering my bum) and borrowed a dress from Schae's friend Kimmie! Thanks for saving the day Kimmie!

Mom, Caleb and me in the "after dress"

And this is the beautiful new mixer that I got from my Mom and Dad. I opened it last night and it is just soooo beautiful. What a spoiled girl I am!

I had a great birthday and a fun visit from my mom! Thanks for coming Mom!

Wowwee 26 is going to be a great year!

So far I am having a fabulous birthday!
This weekend, we didn't end up going to San Francisco. I had a bit of a cold this last week and on Friday I was just feeling so worn out and couldn't even imagine walking uphill and down all weekend in San Francisco. So instead Mom and I went downtown and shopped around all day Saturday. We went to the Americana on Brand Saturday night, it was my first time and was so fancy and beautiful!
On Sunday we went to Catalina Island. We kayaked to Frog Rock and CB jumped off this huge rock and into the ocean. I took a video but I wasn't thinking and took it sideways... I will probably post it later anyway, cause it was a really rad jump.
Last night, we found out that the Surfing magazine that (Caleb's Band) CD was on came out. They have the entire back cover! They are so famous now... Here it is! My sister in law, Makaya took the picture for the cd cover and my lovely niece and nephews are the models.

My cousin, Lisa is the best!
She is a teacher and just called me with her entire classroom singing me happy birthday!
Thanks Lisa! Thanks Lisa's Class! :)

TGIF

When I was a kid, TGIF meant that I would be watching Full House on TV that night.
But now, TGIF means that I have finished the week at work. I am constantly finding myself singing "Everybody's working for the week-end!" over and over and over throughout the week.
I have never needed a weekend more than this one... Wow, work got on my NERVES this week! I am so glad that it is Friday. Next week will have to be better- it kicks off with my birthday after all, so it HAS to be.
I think that we are taking my mom up to San Francisco tomorrow. It will be a long drive and we will pretty much have to turn around and come back the next day, but it will be fun.

Welcome baby Ella!

I received a text this morning that my friend Elise has had her baby girl!
She was born yesterday (one week before her due date) and she weighed 7lbs 3 oz.
Elise didn't give me any of the gory details but has told me that she went into labor at 6am Saturday and Ella arrived at 7:58 am Sunday morning. (I haven't heard for sure yet if she named her Ella-Jean, or Ella Jean, which is why I'm just calling her Ella) She told me that she is very cute and that she was speechless for an hour after meeting her. Elise and Ella are both doing great! Congratulations, Elise!
As soon as I get a picture, I'll post it up here.

Week in Review...

Instead of posting a 100 different times about the little things that happened this week, I figured I'd mix it up. I am not sure if I will post like this in the future, but it was fun this time.
On Monday, I had to find a body double for this man...

On Tuesday, I got my hair done like this...
(The color looks a bit off and I don't dig the picture, but it's close enough.)

Caleb had a show Tuesday night and had the car, so after my appointment, I had an adventure with the possibility of riding this home...
(But after waiting for a LONG time in the dark scary streets of Bubank)

But alas, it doesn't run that late, and I called one of these to get home instead...

On Wednesday, at work I booked this show...

And then, I got together with great friends and watched this show...

On Thursday, I made this dress...

(It isn't finished yet- I need to either hem it regular, or add the trim like is pinned in the picture. I made this dress by adjusting the pattern from the teeny tiny dress making it larger and changing the shape slightly- but now I don't know what size it is. Please give me advice on the brown trim or the regular hem. The brown trim matches the piping, but doesn't match the brown dots exactly.)

I also stayed up very late and watched this girl win my favorite Olympic event...

On Friday, I got dressed in a really cute outfit (in my humble opinion) got in the car to go to work... and spilled this all down the front.

So I was late for work because I had to completely change clothes... :(
But it was ok, because all stress was rubbed out by the company provided massage I had at work this morning.

Tonight, I will go see my favorite band ;) play at the Relax Bar in Hollywood...

Just a little Shout Out!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY OLIVER!!!

My nephew, Oliver, turns 1 today. I "borrowed" some pictures from my sister-in-law, Harmony's blog to show him off and tribute this sweet boy's 1st birthday. They had a cowboy theme party and here is the announcement we got in the mail this week.

Happy Birthday Oliver! You are such a handsome cowboy!

Hair today... What tomorrow? (haha, nerd alert)

I have an appointment to get my hair done tonight in 30 minutes... and I really don't have any idea as to what I am going to ask her to do.  Hmmm...  I am probably WAY too trusting of my stylist, but she hasn't let me down before.  But this is the thing:  I don't really like having my hair done, unless it will look noticably different when I am finished.  This time around it is giving me major anxiety since I have nothing except staying some shade of red.  It will be done in 2 hours and then we'll see.

Mom- if it looks good tonight, I'll post a picture so you can see it.

Caleb's Band... Live at (a cool bar in LA)!

Last night, Caleb and Ashton played at (a cool bar in LA). It was a good show. I love it when they get their name on the sign. This time I finally remembered to take a picture.
Still can't find our camera... so the phone pictures will have to do.

Teeny Tiny Dress

While watching the High School Musical: Get in the Picture competition last night on tv (I know, I know- but for some reason CB and I saw an episode last week and it hooks you... It was that or American Gladiators finale, because we didn't know to watch for Jon on the Teen Choice Awards until it was over, oops...), I made this itty bitty dress last night. We lost our camera (hopefully momentarily) so unfortunately, my phone pictures will be up until we find it. This dress took me about 2 hours to make and I love it! The fabric has a funky vibe and I love the effect in dress form. This dress is probably newborn size- I couldn't even get it over Caleb's Cabbage Patch Kid's head. I will probably adjust this pattern and try to make it larger, I already know what fabric I'll try next.

Close up of the fabric and piping

What's cooking, Stella?

Makaya just sent me this pic of Stella cooking.
She looks so cute wearing the apron I made her for Christmas last year.

Projects in use...

CB's lovely sisters, Harmony and Makaya, sent me some pictures of some previous sewing projects in use! I love seeing things I made in use.
Here is Mason wearing his pig shirt that I gave him in May. The dye didn't take well to the shirt so it sort of has a bit of a tie-dye effect. I made his a pig, because he said that was his favorite animal.

Here are Levi and Stella using their "Auntie Claire" quilts to watch Charlie Brown videos. Stella's was one of the first ones that I had made 2 1/2 years ago, and Levi's is the latest that I have made.
